We’re Regathering!

As of Sunday, October 31st, we have returned to gathering in-person! During this season of regathering we will be meeting at a new location with 3 afternoon services – 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. Although there is a lot of change to adjust to, we look forward to being able to meet face to face and work through each challenge that comes our way in God’s strength. Got questions or concerns? Don’t hesitate to Contact Us.

All are welcome, no rego required

Getting there

Over the remainder of the year, MEC will be meeting in a temporary location – Maitland Uniting Church at 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm.

Limited parking is available onsite and additonal parking is available in the multi-story parking complex along Ken Tubman Drive.

Sunday service

When you arrive at Maitland Uniting Church, head over to our welcoming table. Come say hi and ask questions if you have any. At our welcoming table you’ll be able to check-in with the Service NSW app before following directions towards the church.

Due to current restrictions, masks will be required throughout the service and there will be no singing. Afternoon tea will follow on the lawn outside the church after the 2pm & 4pm services.

Kids & Youth

Due to easing of restrictions we’re now able to hold more kids in our programs! Our Sunday services begin with everyone all together, big and small. We welcome your kids to Creche and Sunday School during the break in the service when all the children head out to their programs. A parent’s room is also available at the back of the hall.

Creche will be available at 4pm only. Sunday School will be available at 2pm & 4pm.

For those with little ones attending Creche, you will need to sign your children in.

Creche and Sunday School will be held in a seperate hall on the same site as the Sunday Service. Children will be cared for by trained supervisors and Sunday School teachers. If you have any concerns at all, feel welcome to Contact Us.

FAQs

All of our visitors can rest assured that we have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and that this plan is updated to reflect any changes to the Public Health Order for churches. The following will be in place until 1 December 2021 unless the Public Health Order changes before then.

How are we putting government guidelines into practice?

Our commitment to creating and maintaining COVID-safe environments includes important measures such as: QR code check-ins, ventilation in all our spaces where possible, encouraging people to greet without contact, monitoring the number of people in each of our meeting spaces, and rigorous cleaning. We provide hand sanitiser and do not give out our Sunday bulletin or provide pens.

How many people are allowed to attend the Sunday services?

Within the current regulations, we are restricted by the 2m2 rule in each of our spaces. The church building can hold 170 people. The hall which is used for creche and sunday school can hold an additional 90+ people (depending on which rooms are used).

Can I come if I haven’t been vaccinated?

Within the current government regulations we are open to vaccinated and unvaccinated people. Everyone is welcome!

What about children and youth?

Our childrens program will operate in the hall at the 2pm and 4pm services. A Creche will run at 4pm. Sunday School will run at 2pm and 4pm. You no longer need to register for Creche and Sunday School. All our Kids and Youth leaders are fully vaccinated and will be wearing masks.

What about people who are more vulnerable to COVID-19?

We still provide our Livestream from 2pm for those who would rather stay at home for now. More details here >

What about face masks?

Wearing a face mask is currently mandatory for our indoor spaces.

What about singing?

Under current restrictions, congregational singing (inclusive of those unvaccinated) is not allowed, however our band will lead us while we hum, clap and worship God together in our hearts.

Will an offering be collected?

We have an offering box at the doors of the church. For those who would like to give electronically see more on Giving>

Do we have an official COVID Safety Plan?

Yes, we do and it has been lodged with the government to register our Ministry Centre as a COVID Safe Place.

Still have questions?

If you have any questions regarding our Sunday Services please feel free to Contact Us. If you are contacting us outside office hours and require a prompt reply, we recommend contacting us via our Facebook Page.

Can’t make it this week? Livestream our services

We understand there an array of different reasons why some can’t or don’t feel comfortable returning to meeting in person at this time. That’s why we’re still livestreaming our services! You can watch our 2pm Sunday Service live or at a time that suits you.
