Creche & Kids

babies & kids aged 1-12 yrs

As a church we’re blessed to have many little people belong to our church body.

Children and youth make up an important part of our community at MEC. We aim to encourage and work alongside parents as they train their children in the good news of Jesus.

We begin our Sunday services all together as a family as we believe participating in worship is for all members of our church, big and small. We welcome your kids to come and join us in our Creche and Sunday School programs during the break in the service when all the children head out to their programs.

Our kids programs are run at our 8.30am + 4pm Sunday services during the school term. During school holidays, we intentionally provide an encouraging opportunity for all ages to participate in the whole church time. We make extra effort to help children engage in church and learn from God’s word, and to assist parents as they train their children to love Jesus and his church.

We seek to make our church a safe environment for children and maintain regular safe ministry training. All our volunteers have completed Safe Ministry training and have a current Working With Children Check. Read on Safe Ministry at MEC.

Creche

Babies (1-4yrs old)

Creche is our 1-4 year old children’s Sunday program. Like our other Sunday School programs, Creche has a Bible-based curriculum that teaches the littlest members of MEC about God, His word, and His world.

What happens at creche?

At creche, kids play, sing and dance, learn memory verses and Bible action rhymes, make crafts, and most importantly join in hearing a lesson taught from the Bible. Creche is led by a number of teachers and leaders from our MEC congregations, but parents are also welcome to sit in with their children for some or all of the program. We also want to encourage and support parents as they disciple their littlest kids at home, so we provide you with a run-down of that week’s lesson when you pick up your children. You can use this however works best for your family, whether as a conversation starter or the basis for a family Bible study time.

Sunday School

kids (5-12 yrs old)

At MEC we have Sunday School programs for both Infants (ages 5-9) and Primary (ages 10-12) aged children. At Sunday school we follow a Bible-based curriculum that teaches the kids of MEC about God, His word and how this shapes how we view His world and live our lives as Christians in our homes, schools – anywhere!

What happens at Sunday School?

Our Sunday School program involves age-specific activities, learning about our church’s missionary partners, prayer, a bible-based lesson and discussion groups.

What do we teach?

our scope & sequence

In our Sunday school programs, we want to teach kids from all of the Bible because we believe all of the Bible is God’s Word. Our programs are guided by a comprehensive curriculum that helps guide lessons over a 4 year period.

With a four year plan, any child that comes through Sunday school from infants to the end of primary have the opportunity to hear from both the Old and New Testament learning about God’s promises to His people and His faithful love from creation, to Jesus’ death and resurrection and to Heaven with Him.
